CMS Overview

The Design Factory CMS is designed to be as simple and intuitive as possible. The layout and structure of the CMS follows a consistent pattern so once you've worked through one section, the rest should be easy to follow.

There are a few fundamental things to keep in mind:

  • Most sections will have 2 tabs - View List and Add New

    • View List is a list of existing items.

    • Add New is where you add new items

  • By default any new item you add is not-activated. You have to manually activate it by clicking 'Activate'. You can simply de-activate any item by clicking on the link again.

  • Anything you delete cannot be recovered so ensure that you are 100% sure before deleting any items.

  • Always click 'Save' while you're adding content. Websites rely on a user session and when you leave a page idle for too long, you may not realise but the page has timed out and you can lose any un-saved work. Keep saving as you go along

  • In most sections you can reorder the display order of any item where you see the type of layout in the image below. Simply hover over the item and you will notice the cursor changes to a crosshair icon. Drag the block up and down and the front end will change immediately. The changes do not require you to save the page. In some cases the view list is a grid format. The same principal applies.
